Asleep and Awake

It was dark, the air cool, I saw a small child approximately twelve years old, I heard the sound of a belt whipping through the air.  I woke startled, sweating and shaking then I realized it was a dream.  Laying awake, unable to sleep, I saw the child’s  back legs and arms, bruised and swollen, with belt marks prominent.  I felt sick.

I couldn’t explain it, I felt weak and upset, I couldn’t talk to anyone, the dreams continued the images ever present.  Still awake, I can not sleep.
