Advantages of social support

Social support is accessing one’s network of family, friends and peers for understanding, care or support.

Social support has been found to enhance capacity to cope among people caring for others and can be a buffer to the negative effects of stress. Social support is considered a vital resource for managing stress in life and careers.

Connection in the form of social support has been found to positively influence a decline in Professional Quality of Life scale scores for compassion fatigue and burnout.
