It is in these moments of real presence that we are fully awake.
I never really thought about presence until one day, my son asked, what happens at your work mum? What’s it like to care for other people? Thinking about this question, initially I had no answer as my head was full of the demands of the day and the care the environment. In that moment, I realised I had not been present, stuck in my head, simply rushing to get everything done and not thinking at all about caring for others. I sat quietly with my son, I felt my body relax inside, some time went by. It’s nice, I replied.
Consider for a moment, what does presence mean to you? What does it look like, feel like? What do you notice when you are present?
