Situation awareness and management (SAM)

Situation awareness and management – SAM allows you to explore a situation or experience, capture responses by considering the feelings in your body or emotion felt, your thoughts and actions. Once you have considered the situation or experience, you can consider alternative feelings, thoughts and actions for a new experience.

Applying SAM

Consider a situation that may have resulted in an unproductive or unpleasant experience. Using SAM, capture the situation, feelings, thoughts and actions.   Then consider alternative responses.

Applying SAM enabled me to reframe an experience where I felt completely de-railed, after applying SAM, I could look at the situation in a new and more productive way.
